TCL has finally released its unconventional, Rubik's-cube portable projector, which debuted at CES 2025 and immediately caught the attention of the tech world. Its secret? Two modules connected by a hinge that rotates over 90°, allowing for the image to be set in practically any direction without tripods or additional mounts – “twist and play” in the literal sense. PlayCube is different from all known “square” projectors: the part with the projection system and the part with the speaker/battery can rotate individually, making it incredibly easy and effortless to set the image on a wall or ceiling.
What guts await us?
Inside, we will find Full HD (1080p), support for 4K content, Google TV with Netflix, Prime Video, and other apps, as well as automatic image adjustment and autofocus. The projector weighs less than ~1.3 kg and has a built-in battery lasting up to ~3 hours, which can be quickly recharged in 30 minutes to get an additional hour of playback. The brightness at ~750 ISO lumens makes ChooseTV perform excellently at night and in dimly lit interiors, although in full daylight, the maximum 150-inch images may be less intense.

TCL PlayCube is a device that disrupts the portable projector category: with its rotating module, full Android/Google TV, and really solid brightness in a compact form, it is one of the most interesting “big screens in a small package” available today on the market. Its global availability is still expanding – it is available now in the USA and UK, in Europe from September 2025, and it should be arriving on the Polish and Australian market in the coming months.
