The segment of TVs that double as interior decor is becoming increasingly competitive. After the success of the Samsung The Frame series, other manufacturers are developing their own models of this kind. TCL has just announced three new models in the Nxtvision family that aim to combine an elegant look with modern technological solutions. The biggest new feature is the use of Mini-LED backlighting in the two higher-end variants. Thanks to this, the TVs are expected to offer significantly better picture quality than the previous generation. The manufacturer hopes the new models will appeal both to movie lovers and to people looking for a stylish piece of living room decor.
Mini-LED and an art gallery to set the Nxtvision series apart
The new TCL lineup includes the A400 Pro, A400U, and A400. The most advanced variants, the A400 Pro and A400U, are equipped with Mini-LED backlighting with up to 1,344 local dimming zones. This solution delivers significantly better contrast and full HDR support. Like Samsung The Frame, the TVs can display works of art when turned off, turning the screen into a digital picture. The Art Gallery feature provides access to a collection of pieces by well-known and lesser-known artists, as well as AI-generated graphics and animated scenes with sound. The A400 Pro has a matte screen coating that reduces light reflections, while the A400U retains a more classic look and uses an ultra-thin wall-mount system that resembles wallpaper. The most affordable A400 forgoes Mini-LED technology, remaining a more budget-friendly option.
Screens up to 98 inches and feature-rich gear for gamers
All three series will be available in sizes up to 98 inches. TCL has equipped the new TVs with a 144 Hz refresh rate, support for Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+, Google TV, Filmmaker Mode, and HDMI 2.1 ports that enable 4K at 120 Hz with VRR. Audio is handled by Onkyo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. However, the manufacturer did not include support for Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. In terms of picture quality, the new models are said to outperform competing Samsung The Frame TVs thanks to advanced Mini-LED backlighting. TCL still trails Samsung in the number of licensed artworks available in the digital gallery. Still, the company is clearly signaling it intends to make a bigger impact in the premium designer TV segment.
The new TCL Nxtvision series is set to be one of the most interesting alternatives to the Samsung The Frame. The combination of elegant design, an art gallery feature, and advanced Mini-LED backlighting means the new models could appeal to both fans of excellent picture quality and lovers of modern interiors. The TVs are gradually becoming available in select markets.
