QD-OLED and Sonic at Gamescom 2025 – Samsung Display shows what the games of the future might look like

Calendar 9/15/2025

At this year's Gamescom in Cologne, the collaboration between Samsung Display and SEGA caught the attention of visitors. At the game producer's booth, a special QD-OLED zone was created, where attendees could play the upcoming title Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on 32-inch 4K QD-OLED monitors.

A total of 50 monitors were installed in collaboration with Dell and MSI. Among them were models such as Alienware AW3225QF, the first 4K QD-OLED monitor with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, Dell S3225QC optimized for consoles, and MSI MAG321UP with OLED Care 2.0 panel protection system.

On site, it was possible to check how QD-OLED technology performs in games – a wide color palette, deep black levels, and very fast response times contributed to an even greater sense of immersion. This was complemented by large QD-OLED televisions in sizes of 65 and 77 inches, on which gameplay segments were presented.

Fast Sonic in a go-kart!

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, which will debut in September, is a dynamic kart racing game featuring characters known from the Sonic series. Thanks to QD-OLED, it could be seen in an exceptionally striking setting – vibrant colors and contrasting tracks made the gameplay look impressive.

This is an interesting example of how panel and game manufacturers are increasingly joining forces to showcase new technologies in practice before they hit the market.
