No, this is not a mirage. Ubisoft really remembered about "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake" and... finally showed something. After years of silence, a canceled release, and restarting production, the French team dropped a short message and fresh graphics. It may not be a flashy trailer, but hey – it's the first sign of life in a long time.
Remake that was supposed to vanish into the sands of oblivion
This project is definitely one of the strangest stories in the industry. It was supposed to be a quick return of a classic, but it turned into a disaster – the trailer was torn apart, players left no stone unturned on the game, and Ubisoft... made a rare decision: they postponed the release and started from scratch. Literally. A new team, a new approach, zero shoddy work – at least in theory.
“The Sands are Moving” – so says Ubisoft
In a new announcement, we read:
“Yes, we are still deeply into the game – exploring, building, and making sure the sands are moving in the right direction. This game is being made by a team that truly cares and puts their heart (and a lot of coffee) into every step. Thank you for staying with us.”
In other words: hey, we’re still working on it, don’t worry. And between the lines: “get ready for a presentation.” Because if the release is indeed set for 2026, then a bigger showcase must be just around the corner. Otherwise, the hype won’t get off the ground.
Ubisoft, don't mess this up a second time
This is not just another game. This is Prince of Persia – an iconic title that was ahead of its time. Therefore, it's incomprehensible how Ubisoft could have neglected its remake so much before. Especially since the legion of fans of the series (including in Poland!) is just as loyal and engaged as the community of "The Walking Dead," "Breaking Bad," or "Stranger Things." This title deserves respect – and quality execution.
