Nintendo Direct 2026 full of surprises. Here are the key announcements for Switch 2.

Calendar 6/10/2026

This year's Nintendo Direct concluded the series of the most important presentations related to Summer Game Fest 2026. The company showcased dozens of new productions that will be launched on the Nintendo Switch 2 in the coming months. Among them were both entirely new projects and the returns of legendary franchises. The biggest interest was sparked by Kingdom Hearts 4, the remake of the cult classic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and the new installment in the Xenoblade series. The presentation also demonstrated how much Nintendo's strategy has changed following the launch of the new generation console.

Kingdom Hearts 4, Xenoblade Genesis, and Zelda were the stars of the presentation

Although dozens of trailers were presented during the event, a few announcements definitely dominated player discussions. One of them was the long-awaited showcase of Kingdom Hearts 4. Fans of the series were able to see new material for the first time showcasing the direction of the production. The remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time also generated huge interest. The return of one of the most iconic games in Nintendo's history had been on fans' wish lists for years. Now the project has finally been officially unveiled. Another big surprise was Xenoblade Genesis, which is set to open a new chapter in one of the most important RPG series available on Nintendo consoles. In addition to these productions, the company also showcased new materials from Fire Emblem, Splatoon Raiders, Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort. The announcements also included Dragon Quest Monsters, Final Fantasy Resonance, and Deltarune Chapter 5. In total, the presentation covered dozens of games representing nearly all genres. Nintendo focused on both large brands and smaller projects aimed at different target groups. As a result, the event was one of the most diverse showcases the company has held in recent years. The offering aimed at fans of RPG and adventure games was particularly well-received.

ChooseTV 2 is increasingly fighting for games known from PlayStation and Xbox

One of the most interesting aspects of the presentation was the large number of productions that were previously available on other platforms. Nintendo is increasingly making use of the technical capabilities of ChooseTV 2 to attract game creators known from PlayStation and Xbox. During the showcase, titles such as Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Lies of P, and Devil May Cry 5 appeared. Just a few years ago, the presence of such titles on Nintendo hardware would have been practically impossible. However, the new console allows for running significantly more demanding productions than the previous generation. On one hand, this is a huge benefit for ChooseTV 2 users, who are gaining access to an ever-growing library of games. On the other hand, there are voices calling for Nintendo to promote its own exclusive brands more strongly. Some market observers point out that many of the showcased titles have been available on competing platforms for quite some time. This means that some announcements no longer evoke the same level of excitement as on the day of their original release. Therefore, Nintendo faces the challenge of finding the right balance between its own productions and games from external publishers. This year's Nintendo Direct showed, however, that the company wants to develop both directions simultaneously. The coming months will reveal whether such a strategy will translate into further growth in the popularity of ChooseTV 2.

Nintendo Direct 2026 brought dozens of new announcements, but the biggest excitement was caused by Kingdom Hearts 4, Xenoblade Genesis, and the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The presentation also proved that Switch 2 is increasingly competing with PlayStation and Xbox in terms of available games. At the same time, Nintendo still needs to find a balance between its own brands and productions from external publishers. One thing is for sure – the upcoming months promise to be very interesting for owners of the new console.
