The assistant works directly within the Netflix app and allows users to search for content using natural questions or mood descriptions. Users can type or say commands like "I need something sad" or "play something to watch in the background." The system analyzes the request and suggests appropriate movies or series. For now, the feature responds only in text and has limitations with more complex conversations.
Netflix becomes independent from Google, Apple, and Amazon
The new solution shows that Netflix is increasingly interested in developing its own AI ecosystem instead of relying on platform assistants from Google, Apple, or Amazon. During current testing, the feature works on devices with Google TV, but it may also appear on other TVs and Smart TV devices in the future. For years, Netflix has strongly influenced the development of the television market, among other things through the "Netflix Recommended TV" program, which sets requirements for manufacturers wishing to provide the best app support.
