TWD: Dead City – Negan and Maggie together again, but it's not a happy reunion.
After dozens of lies, blood, and traumas – here we are. The penultimate episode of season 2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City finally serves us the emotional climax that we've been waiting for from the beginning. Negan and Maggie, though separated by pain and the past, cross paths once again. In the background: Hershel, Croat’s lies, the returning Lady (what?!) and ghosts of the past that won't let Negan rest.
How did it all begin?
The idea for Dead City didn't come out of nowhere. It's a direct spin-off of the main TWD series, meant to be more than just another zombie-survivor show. It was meant to explore something fans had been waiting for years – the confrontation between Maggie and Negan. He killed her husband in front of everyone. She has carried that anger for years, but the world is changing. And with it – so are the people.
From the moment Negan saved Hershel (Maggie's son and Glenn's, who was killed by him), the tension between these two reached a whole new level. He – a criminal trying to redeem himself. She – a mother grappling with hatred and trauma. Hershel? He is not only a bridge between them but also the key to the entire story. It's all about him.
Negan faces the ghosts of the past, Maggie fights for her son - Episode 2x07: "Novi Dan Novi Pocetak"
This is one of the strongest episodes of the second season. On one side – Maggie, on the other – Negan. Each of them caught in separate hells that ultimately lead to the same place. Maggie first follows the trail left by the Croat, experiences a horrifying climb through a tower full of traps, and then... almost gets herself killed. Or maybe she dreamed of it herself? After all, the Croat specifically brought her there to die on the spot. But typical of Maggie, she didn’t give him that opportunity.
However, the conclusion of this journey was different than everyone expected. Hershel is alive. But the Lady… too? With a burnt neck, like half-zombie, half-leader. Maggie gets a slap and ends the episode just as confused as the viewers.
At the same time, Negan is trying to save Ginny, a girl whose health is deteriorating. In the hospital, he fights a zombie kid (a bit like from a cheap '80s VHS), gets hit in the head, and then... hallucinations begin. Lucille returns (his wife who died at the beginning of the pandemic and his famous baseball bat, which bore her name). Then – Annie and Joshua (his new wife and son). They are not real, but Negan facing the family he lost is a powerful scene for fans of this universe. The result? A new determination: he returns to the church with a respirator and states without a hint of mercy: "This time I'm just going to kill them all."
So what now? Dead City is still airing on AMC+, but there are still other shows to watch like: The Ones Who Live and Daryl Dixon!
