HBO Max is entering more countries in Europe — including the largest markets.

Calendar 12/4/2025

HBO Max is launching in Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and other countries in January 2026, followed by the United Kingdom and Ireland in March. Check out the details, the list of available titles, and what will change in the platform’s European offering.

HBO Max has confirmed that the platform will soon debut in the largest countries in Europe. January 13, 2026 will see the service launch in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein, and in March 2026 it will finally arrive in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Until now, entry into these markets has been blocked by long-term licensing agreements with local broadcasters. Now HBO Max is finalizing its European expansion. JB Perrette, CEO of global streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery, comments:

“We are excited to bring HBO Max and the stories that resonate with viewers to more countries in Europe this January. It’s the perfect time — we have the strongest lineup of HBO series, hit movies, and the Winter Olympic Games. It has never been easier to watch the most talked-about series, the biggest premieres, live sports, and extraordinary stories from around the world.”

In the background, there are reports of a potential sale of Warner Bros. Discovery — companies such as Paramount and Netflix are reportedly expressing interest.

Offer: 4K HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos

HBO Max will feature productions from HBO, Warner Bros, DC, and Max Originals, including:

  • Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, Euphoria, Chernobyl, The White Lotus

  • Movies: Dune, Superman, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings

  • A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is also coming soon

Selected titles will be available in 4K HDR10 and Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos sound (in the premium plan). The pricing will be revealed later.

And what does the situation look like in Poland?

In Poland, the situation is unusual — ChooseTV has been functioning for a long time. Poland was one of the first markets in Europe to transition to the new version of the service.

What does this mean?

  • ChooseTV is already operational, so announcements regarding launches in other countries do not apply to us.

  • Poland has the full ChooseTV library, including Discovery content (which was not available in classic ChooseTV).

As one of the earlier markets, we also have:

  • content in 4K Dolby Vision / Atmos,

  • plans with ads and without (local prices have remained unchanged since the rebranding),

  • access to new releases simultaneously with the USA, provided that licensing agreements do not block this.
