Grounded 2 is getting a huge update and introduces the biggest boss in the history of the game.

Calendar 4/15/2026

Obsidian Entertainment is releasing one of the biggest updates for Grounded 2 and doing so with a bang. The Beat the Heat update not only expands the game's content but, most importantly, introduces a whole new level of challenge. Players can look forward to a massive boss, new combat mechanics, advancements in systems, and fresh locations to explore. This is exactly the type of update that can draw back even those who have long put the game down.

King Dozer changes the rules of combat

The biggest attraction of the update is undoubtedly King Dozer, a gigantic lizard inspired by dragons from fantasy. It is the largest boss to appear in the series and one of the most challenging opponents. However, the creators did not opt for a classic approach to combat; instead, they focused on interaction with the environment, which becomes crucial for survival. The battle arena is extremely hot, and the boss itself gains strength in high temperatures. Players must not only avoid attacks but also actively cool down the environment to weaken the opponent and increase their chances. This is a completely new type of encounter in Grounded 2 that requires a different approach to strategy and preparation. Moreover, defeating King Dozer unlocks unique gear inspired by knightly armor and new items for the base.

New systems and more reasons to return

The Beat the Heat update is more than just one boss. The developers have expanded the Buggies system, which are player companions that can now grow and acquire new skills. As a result, they stop being just a means of transportation and become real support in combat and exploration. A new location, Sinkhole Anthill, full of dangers and unusual opponents whose behavior can be surprising, is also being introduced. In addition, there are smaller changes, balance fixes, and new character-building options, all of which combine to give the game a new lease on life. It is clear that Obsidian wants to develop Grounded 2 based on community feedback and gradually add more complex mechanics.

Beat the Heat is an update that shows that Grounded 2 is growing into a more ambitious and demanding game, and King Dozer is the best proof of that.
