Cable-free and uncompromising. This gadget wirelessly connects HDMI with USB hub functionality.

The new project from 4URPC shows that a classic docking station can look completely different than before. The manufacturer has combined a wireless HDMI transmitter with a USB hub function, creating a compact device for work and entertainment. The equipment allows for wireless image transmission while simultaneously expanding the number of available ports on a laptop or smartphone. This solution is for people who want to reduce cable clutter and use a mobile workstation anywhere. The project has hit Kickstarter and targets users looking for simplicity and functionality in one device. In practice, it aims to replace several accessories with one integrated module.

More than just image transmission

The transmitter offers quite a solid set of ports. On one edge, there are two USB-A and one USB-C for data transfer, all with a throughput of up to 10 Gb/s. On the other side, there is a USB-C power input with 100 W and SD and TF card readers operating up to 5 Gb/s. In practice, this means that a laptop or tablet can simultaneously charge, support accessories and external storage, and wirelessly transmit images to a screen.

The receiver is equally easy to use. Just connect it to the HDMI port on the monitor or TV, and the previously paired transmitter will connect automatically without any apps, Wi-Fi configuration, or Bluetooth. One receiver can work with up to eight transmitters, making it easier to switch presentations quickly without rearranging cables. The system operates based on a direct point-to-point connection rather than classic screen casting.

4URPC SP06 is an interesting attempt to combine wireless HDMI with a fully-fledged USB hub in one mobile device. It offers significant functionality, quick signal switching, and the ability to handle multiple transmitters, which can be useful in an office, at a university, or in a home setup. On the other hand, it is still a crowdfunding project, so as always in such cases, it is worth considering the risk of delays or changes in the final product. However, if the manufacturer delivers on its promises, this could be one of the more interesting accessories for mobile work in 2026.
