XGIMI has unveiled two new ultra-short-throw projectors in the AURA 3 series. The AURA 3 Max and AURA 3 Pro models are said to deliver 4K at 120 Hz. They also feature a triple RGB light source and support for Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced.
4K and 120 Hz in a UST projector
The most important feature of the new models is the combination of 4K resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the UST (Ultra Short Throw) design, the projector can be placed very close to the wall or screen, yet still project a large image. XGIMI has used a triple RGB laser in both models. The manufacturer also states the use of a dual dynamic iris, intended to improve contrast and black levels. Differences between the models include brightness. The AURA 3 Max is rated at 5700 ISO lumens, while the AURA 3 Pro is rated at 4100 ISO lumens.
Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced
Both projectors are said to support Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced. This should allow films and TV series to be viewed in high quality. With diagonals larger than typical TVs, a UST projector can be an alternative to a very large screen. In addition, the UST design allows the projector to be placed right next to the wall or screen, rather than mounted several metres away from the surface. However, bear in mind that all the specifications mentioned are only the manufacturer's claims. The figures given do not come from independent measurements.
