MSI has unveiled the new MAG 256QP36 gaming monitor, which combines a compact 24.5-inch screen with WQHD resolution and a refresh rate of up to 360 Hz. It’s an interesting option for esports players who want a clearer image than Full HD while still maintaining a high level of smoothness.
360 Hz and special SLMB-Sync technology
The new monitor uses a Rapid IPS panel with a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels. Thanks to its relatively modest diagonal it offers a pixel density of around 120 PPI, which is higher than typical 27-inch WQHD monitors.
The manufacturer specifies a response time of 0.5 ms (GtG, minimum) and a 360 Hz refresh rate. The most interesting feature, however, is SLMB-Sync, which allows the simultaneous use of motion blur reduction technology and variable refresh rate (VRR).
In practice this should deliver a sharper image of moving objects without having to give up refresh-rate synchronization. The monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium and is G-Sync Compatible.
Two HDMI 2.1 ports and DisplayHDR 400
The MSI MAG 256QP36 also offers two HDMI 2.1 ports, supporting WQHD at 360 Hz, and DisplayPort 1.4a. It also includes height adjustment, screen swivel and a pivot function.
The panel provides 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space, a 1200:1 contrast ratio and a peak HDR brightness of 400 nits. The monitor is DisplayHDR 400 certified, although you should not expect HDR effects comparable to advanced Mini LED or OLED screens.
Price and availability
MSI has not yet revealed the price or when the MAG 256QP36 will go on sale. It is also not known when the monitor will be available in Polish stores.
