Microsoft has begun rolling out another update for participants in the Xbox Insider programme. The new features are intended to make recording gameplay, managing cloud saves and browsing achievements easier. Some changes are already available to selected testers, and the rest will be gradually rolled out to more users of Xbox consoles.
Xbox will allow recording voice chats and restoring older game saves
One of the most interesting additions is the ability to include voice chats in gameplay recordings. The feature has so far reached participants of the Xbox Insider Alpha Skip-Ahead programme and lets you decide whether party or in-game voice chats should be saved when recording. Importantly, each participant chooses whether their voice may be included in the recording, giving greater control over privacy. Microsoft is also introducing the long-awaited ability to restore earlier cloud saves. The feature is already available to testers and initially supports Forza Horizon 6. Users can browse available save versions and restore an earlier game state directly from the console. In future the solution will be extended to additional titles. This is particularly useful for people who accidentally overwrite progress or encounter save file issues. Microsoft says support for more games will be added in subsequent system updates.
Larger wishlist and new ways to browse achievements
The update also brings changes to the achievements section that will make it easier to track progress in games. Testers can now sort their library by game title, percentage completion, earned Gamerscore points or the number of unlocked achievements. Each of these filters works in both ascending and descending order, making it easier to find titles of interest or check which games are closest to completion. Microsoft has also delivered good news for all Xbox console users, as the limit on the wishlist has been significantly increased. You can now add up to 1000 games, which will make it easier to keep track of upcoming releases, sales and titles you plan to play in the future. The company emphasises that the new features will roll out gradually to successive groups of testers and will then be made available to all players. The Xbox Insider programme remains the place where users can be the first to try experimental features and provide feedback to the system's developers.
The new Xbox Insider update focuses on making the console more convenient to use. Microsoft is introducing voice chat recording, the ability to restore older cloud saves, more advanced achievement filtering and a wishlist that can hold as many as 1,000 games. Some features are already being tested by users of the Insider programme, and over the coming weeks they will be gradually rolled out to a wider group of players.
