Microsoft is not slowing down in developing the Xbox system. The latest update available for participants of the Xbox Insider programme introduces a series of changes aimed at improving the daily comfort of using the console. The manufacturer focuses primarily on personalising the interface, social features, and further reducing the power consumption of the devices. Some of the new features may seem minor, but together they create a more refined experience for gamers.
Easier to meet new friends and greater personalisation
One of the most interesting new features is the expansion of social functions. From now on, while browsing another user's profile, you can check the number of mutual friends. This solution aims to facilitate the establishment of new contacts, particularly after joint online games or social events organised around the Xbox platform. Microsoft hopes that this will encourage players to expand their friend networks. The update also introduces new options related to the appearance of the game library. Users can display titles as larger graphics resembling posters, giving the entire interface a more modern character. Additionally, new settings have emerged that allow users to hide selected status icons and customise the way content is presented. The producer has also simplified the organisation of the personalisation menu, separating the settings for the main screen from the "My games and apps" section. As a result, locating specific options should be significantly easier. Various parts of the system have also introduced new shortcuts that enable quick access to the most important settings.
Microsoft aims to further reduce energy consumption
The update also brings changes related to energy saving. Microsoft has begun implementing a new solution for users using sleep mode on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and older Xbox One models. The system can automatically switch the device to a complete shutdown mode, which, according to the company, consumes even several dozen times less energy than traditionally leaving the console in standby. However, the manufacturer emphasizes that the feature does not affect the ability to download updates for games, apps, or the system itself. Players also retain full freedom to choose their preferred operation mode for the device. The update also includes a small but practical change for those tracking upcoming releases. Games that are not yet available for sale can now be added to the wishlist directly from the product page. This makes it easier to manage future purchases and monitor new announcements appearing on the Xbox platform.
The new Xbox Insider update focuses on three key areas: personalisation, social features, and energy saving. Microsoft is introducing easier friend searching, new options for customising the game library, and further solutions aimed at reducing power consumption by consoles. Although the changes are currently reaching testers, many indications suggest that they will soon also be available to all Xbox users.
