Xbox turns 25, and to mark the occasion Microsoft has prepared a range of attractions for gamers. The company has made available new console and app personalisation items, a special anniversary badge and a collection of iconic games on Xbox Game Pass. We also got the full schedule for the worldwide Xbox FanFest tour, which will visit several major cities later this year.
Microsoft has released new themes, badges and a game collection to mark Xbox’s 25th anniversary
The celebrations for Xbox’s 25th anniversary began with the release of new customisation items created in collaboration with the community. Microsoft invited creators known as Klobrille and Ben Kenobi to the project; they produced special profile pictures, wallpapers and a dynamic theme for Xbox consoles. All the additions are available immediately to console users and in the Xbox app on PCs. The company also encourages players to share their own designs using the hashtag #Xbox25. At the same time, a special 25th anniversary badge has begun to be distributed. Any user who signs in to their Xbox account on console, PC or the mobile app will receive it. The badge will be available until the end of 2026 and can be displayed on a player’s profile. Microsoft has also put together a special collection on Xbox Game Pass that showcases the most important games from the platform’s history. The line-up includes, among others, Fable Anniversary, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Fallout 4 and Psychonauts 2. It’s a nod to the key titles that accompanied successive generations of Xbox consoles.
Xbox FanFest will visit seven cities, and Microsoft announces additional attractions
Microsoft has also revealed the full schedule for this year's Xbox FanFest tour. Events will take place, among others, during gamescom in Cologne, the Tokyo Game Show in Japan, and in London, Mexico, Sydney, Toronto and Seattle. Each stop will provide an opportunity for the Xbox community to meet and to take part in special activities organised by the company. Tickets for the events will not be sold in the traditional way. Instead, participants will be able to obtain them through raffles held separately for each city. Microsoft says FanFest is primarily intended to bring players together and to celebrate the shared history of the brand. At the same time the company has launched a special hub dedicated to Xbox's 25th anniversary, which will feature further information about events, products and anniversary initiatives. Microsoft says further surprises tied to the anniversary will appear in the coming months. All activities are intended to lead up to the main celebrations on 15 November, when the Xbox brand will officially celebrate its 25th birthday.
