Microsoft and Meta have been developing a collaboration for several years aimed at allowing players to access the Xbox library on different devices. So far, Meta Quest headset users have been able to access Xbox Cloud Gaming and selected Game Pass features. Now the partnership has been expanded to include a new benefit for Meta Horizon+ subscribers. As a result, some users will gain access to a special version of Xbox Game Pass as part of their subscription. The move is intended to make it easier to discover new games without having to take out a separate subscription. The offer covers both major AAA titles and popular indie games.
Meta Horizon+ receives access to Xbox Game Pass Starter
From now on, eligible Meta Horizon+ subscribers can access the Xbox Game Pass Starter edition. The package provides access to a library of more than 50 games and 10 hours of cloud gaming each month. As part of the service, players can also earn points in the Microsoft Rewards programme for activity in selected titles. Microsoft has prepared a diverse library that includes action games, co-operative titles and simulators. Available titles include Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Overcooked 2, Grounded, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic and SnowRunner. This lets users try both big-budget titles and smaller, popular games. The new offering complements the existing collaboration between Xbox and Meta, which already includes support for Xbox services on Meta Quest devices.
Microsoft wants to increase Game Pass availability even further
The new initiative fits Microsoft’s strategy of making Xbox games available on as many devices as possible. Rather than limiting the service to consoles, the company is expanding access to Game Pass on computers, TVs and virtual reality devices. The Meta Horizon+ subscription costs $59.99 a year or $7.99 a month and now includes access to the basic version of Game Pass in supported markets. Microsoft hopes the partnership with Meta will encourage new users to try the Xbox ecosystem. At the same time, players using Meta Quest headsets gain another way to access the game library without needing a console. The expanded partnership also shows that companies are increasingly focusing on subscription services and cloud gaming. Similar collaborations may become more common in future.
