Valve continues to develop its latest Steam Machine console. The manufacturer announced support for AMD FSR 4.1 and provided further information about the order fulfilment process. The new feature is meant to improve image quality in supported games while also allowing players to test the function earlier before its official rollout. Valve has announced the availability of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4.1 on the Steam Machine console. The feature was added via Proton Experimental, the testing version of the compatibility layer for games. This means SteamOS users can already try the new solution in titles that support FSR. According to the maker, FSR 4.1 delivers noticeably better image quality than earlier versions of the technology. Adding the feature to Proton Experimental means players do not have to wait for the next stable software release. At the same time Valve has released CAD files showing the console's exact external dimensions. They will enable the design of compatible stands, mounts, cases or other accessories while keeping accurate proportions. The company is counting on engagement from the modding community and creators of custom hardware add-ons. It's another step aimed at easing the development of the ecosystem around the Steam Machine. Valve provides new information on the order queue
The company also published an update on the fulfilment process for Steam Machine orders. Valve said purchase invitations are still being sent daily according to users' positions in the reservation queue. The manufacturer assures that everyone with an active reservation will be given the opportunity to buy the device before the end of the year. After receiving an invitation, users have 72 hours to complete the purchase. If the purchase is not completed within the allotted time, the opportunity passes to the next person on the waiting list. Valve reiterated this rule to limit delays in order fulfilment. According to earlier reports, the price of the Steam Machine rose due to increasing component costs, which affected the device's final price. Despite this, the manufacturer is continuing the sales process on schedule. The company regularly issues brief updates on progress and order fulfilment. The new information is intended to reassure those still waiting for the chance to buy the console.
