Among them were both continuations of well-known series and completely new projects from renowned studios. Some announcements could have a huge impact on the gaming market in the coming years.

Big brands are making a comeback. Final Fantasy, Resident Evil and Assassin’s Creed have captured attention

One of the most talked-about moments of the show was the presentation of Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Square Enix presented material from the final part of the remake trilogy for the first time, set to debut in 2027. Players saw new fragments of the world, heroes, and a teaser for the ultimate showdown with Sephiroth. Resident Evil Veronica also sparked huge interest, being the modern version of the iconic Resident Evil Code: Veronica. Capcom announced a thoroughly refreshed story, modern visual design, and rebuilt gameplay. There was also Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which will bring back one of Ubisoft's most beloved entries in the series to fans. The new trailer reminded viewers of the pirate adventures of Edward Kenway and confirmed a release in July. Remedy Entertainment showcased Control Resonant, the continuation of one of the most acclaimed action games in recent years. The developers displayed a new version of Manhattan overrun by supernatural phenomena. Among the major productions was also Lords of the Fallen II, which received a fresh trailer featuring new enemies and locations. Fans of dark RPGs can expect an even more spectacular continuation. Summer Game Fest proved that the biggest brands in the industry still have immense drawing power. It was these brands that generated the most excitement throughout the event.

There were plenty of surprises and completely new projects

Alongside well-known series, the organisers also showcased many fresh productions. Great interest was generated by Crossfire from the studio That's No Moon, which focuses on cinematic storytelling and tactical action. The game Atlas from the creators of Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian also promises to be intriguing. The new game will offer an open world and exploration of a mysterious planet inhabited by colossal machines. A significant surprise was the official announcement of Guild Wars 3. This is the first new installment of the popular MMORPG series in over a decade and simultaneously marks the brand's debut on consoles. Bandai Namco announced Gundam Rogue Orbit, which aims to combine dynamic action with a cinematic tale set in a new universe. Fantasy enthusiasts took note of Swords of Legends and The Blood of Dawnwalker from the studio Rebel Wolves. The latter project is being developed by former creators of The Witcher and focuses on dark fantasy with vampires in leading roles. There were also new materials from Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and Star Wars: Galactic Racer. Sega announced further expansions inspired by well-known brands, and Star Wars players received a new story trailer for the racing production. Summer Game Fest demonstrated that alongside major hits, the industry is still searching for new ideas and boldly investing in fresh brands. As a result, the future of PlayStation 5 looks exceptionally promising.
