Red Magic has unveiled a new gaming tablet. It has a 185 Hz OLED display and active cooling.

Red Magic has expanded its portfolio of gaming devices with a new premium tablet. The manufacturer has unveiled the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, which stands out not only for its very powerful specifications but also for an unusual design with a transparent back and a visible cooling system. The tablet has been designed primarily for mobile gaming and long gaming sessions. The manufacturer has also announced a global launch of the device later in July. All signs point to Red Magic aiming to compete more strongly with the best gaming tablets on the market.

Gaming Tablet 5 Pro offers a 185 Hz OLED display and a flagship processor

The new Red Magic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro is equipped with a 9.06-inch 2.4K OLED display. The screen supports a refresh rate of 185 Hz and reaches a maximum brightness of 1600 nits. The manufacturer has also implemented measures to improve touch responsiveness, offering a touch sampling rate of up to 2000 Hz and a latency of just 1 ms. Performance is handled by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, assisted by the proprietary RedCore R4 chip, which optimises performance during gaming. The tablet also features the Energy Cube 3.0 system, designed to improve performance and power management. The manufacturer emphasises that the device was created with the most demanding mobile games in mind. Its compact size is intended to make the tablet comfortable to hold even during long gaming sessions. The package is rounded off by two USB-C ports, one of which is positioned specifically for landscape play, so the power cable should not get in the way while playing.

Active liquid cooling and a transparent casing set the new tablet apart

The most distinctive feature of the device is the active liquid-cooling system, previously seen in Red Magic smartphones. The manufacturer has placed it under a transparent rear casing, allowing the user to see the working components of the system. The whole is complemented by 11 programmable RGB LEDs, giving the tablet a distinctly gaming look. The device is also equipped with an 8,300 mAh battery that supports 80 W fast charging and reverse charging. In China the tablet went on sale in two colours, black and silver. The base model is priced at 5,299 yuan, or about $780. The manufacturer has already confirmed the device will also be released on international markets under the name Red Magic Astra 2 Gaming Tablet. Details regarding price and the global launch date are set to be revealed on 17 July.
