Peacock wants to turn watching series into a TikTok-like experience

The new feature is designed to operate similarly to popular social media applications, where users scroll through content with a swipe of their finger. Peacock is beginning to implement a special vertical feed that will initially showcase short clips related to the Bravo brand. In the coming months, the section will be expanded into a fully-fledged area called Your Bravoverse. It will feature snippets of shows, behind-the-scenes material, and content related to popular television personalities. The platform hopes that users will launch the app more frequently and spend more time on it. A key element of the strategy will also be original productions created exclusively for vertical format. The first such project is Campus Confidential, a short reality series focused on the relationships and conflicts among the characters. The whole thing has been designed with viewing on a phone in a vertical position in mind. NBCUniversal believes that this format better aligns with contemporary habits of mobile users. The company aims to leverage the popularity of short video content and translate it into the streaming world. This solution is expected to particularly attract younger viewers, who are increasingly consuming content via smartphones.

Peacock does not hide that the inspiration comes from social media platforms currently dominating the short video segment. As a result, the app is set to become more engaging and more frequently used beyond traditional watching of series or films.

Artificial intelligence and sports broadcasts are set to drive a new strategy

The platform has also signed a collaboration with ReelShort, a service specialising in short vertical series. As a result, Peacock will quickly enrich its library with additional content without the necessity of producing everything from scratch. The app will also feature a digital version of well-known presenter Andy Cohen, supported by artificial intelligence. This will assist users in discovering new materials and recommending interesting clips. An important element of the new strategy will also be sports broadcasts in vertical format. Peacock is working on solutions that include NBA games and FIFA World Cup matches, among others. Additionally, the platform is developing the Shop What Happens project, which will combine watching materials with the immediate ability to purchase featured products. All of this shows that Peacock does not want to be just a classic VOD service. The company is trying to create a more interactive environment that will combine streaming, social media, and e-commerce all in one place.
