LG has just thrown down the gauntlet to all esports monitor manufacturers! The UltraGear 27GX790B model has been released for pre-order, boldly combining two worlds: OLED image quality with a record refresh rate of 720 Hz! This is equipment that aims to put an end to the age-old debate about whether for "serious" gaming it is better to choose the fastest TN panel or a beautifully glowing OLED.
720 Hz and Dual-Mode: No More Compromises
The most interesting feature in the new UltraGear is the Dual-Mode function. LG has understood that gamers need different parameters for playing AAA games such as The Witcher or Cyberpunk 2077, and different ones for Counter-Strike or LOL. Instead of buying two monitors, we get one that switches between two modes:
QHD (2560 x 1440) at 540 Hz – for those who want the best image quality
HD at 720 Hz – a mode designed for professional e-sports.
OLED matrix with an almost instantaneous response time of 0.02 ms (GtG) makes motion blur virtually nonexistent. Regardless of what it displays, the image remains razor sharp.

Tandem OLED
The biggest drawback of OLED screens has always been their low brightness. LG has addressed this with its Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology. This is a multi-layer structure of the panel that allows it to achieve as much as 1500 nits. As a result, the HDR effect finally "kicks" as it should, and the monitor should have no problem performing in bright rooms. On board, we find DisplayPort 2.1, which is essential for a refresh rate of 720 Hz
Availability and Price
The LG UltraGear 27GX790B monitor is priced at 3599 PLN (approximately $990 in the US). Considering that this is currently the fastest OLED panel on the market, the price seems to be very aggressively set for the launch.
