NBA The Run is launching on PS5. The new basketball game is starting beta tests before the release.

Calendar 5/30/2026

Basketball fans will soon have another alternative to classic NBA simulators. NBA The Run focuses on fast, spectacular gameplay inspired by street basketball and impressive moves. The creators promise a smooth control system and characters distinguished by special abilities. The spotlight is on the so-called Street Legends, fictional stars of street courts created specifically for the game. Each of them offers their own playing style, strengths and distinct weaknesses. Players will be able to test some of them before the release thanks to an open beta.

Street Legends are set to be the key to gameplay

The creators have prepared five unique heroes designed to complement teams full of NBA stars. Among them is Spin Cycle, specialising in steals, Shen Tong, a master of assists, and DJ, who dominates with long-range shots. Additionally, there is the powerful El Gigante, standing at an impressive 7 feet 7 inches tall, and the legendary commentator Bobbito Garcia appearing as a playable character. Each hero possesses three fully developed skills, making them specialists in specific tasks on the court. At the same time, their weaknesses are intended to compel players to build their teams more strategically.

The open beta launches before the release

The beta tests for NBA The Run will begin on May 30 and will allow players to check out the key mechanics before the full version's debut. The creators are counting on community feedback to help refine game balance. Participants in the tests will be able to unlock some characters and explore various play styles. The full version of the game will be available on PlayStation 5 on June 9 for a price of $29.99. The studio also announces further development of the game after the release and regular updates based on player suggestions.

NBA The Run wants to stand out from the competition by combining street basketball, NBA stars, and unique heroes with their own abilities. The open beta will allow players to see if the new release has a chance to become one of the more interesting sports launches of the year.
