Fighting games can be demanding, especially for those just starting out in the genre. The creators of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls want to make it easier for new players to step into the world of fast-paced clashes with Marvel heroes. Ahead of the upcoming open beta, Arc System Works has released a guide outlining the basic gameplay mechanics. Players will learn how to build teams, execute combos and defend effectively against opponents. The beta will be available on PlayStation 5 and PCs. It's the first chance to try the game's key elements before its release.
Developers encourage learning the basics and experimenting with characters
The developers advise new players to pay attention to the difficulty of individual characters, shown with stars in the character selection menu. Among the easiest characters to start with are Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Wolverine, Iron Man and Spider-Man. More demanding playstyles are offered by Storm and Danger. The creators also suggest building teams made up of characters who specialise in both melee and ranged combat. New players should begin their learning with the Startup Battle mode, which walks them step by step through the basic game mechanics. The tutorial teaches how to perform basic attacks, build simple combos and use special abilities. A separate section of the guide is also devoted to teamwork between members of the team. This allows players to gradually learn the more advanced elements of the combat system.
Team-based combat will be the main focus of the gameplay
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls focuses primarily on dynamic team battles. Players can summon members of their team to perform assist attacks or smoothly switch between characters during combat. The developers also encourage mastering simple attack combos and defensive mechanics, such as blocking, Assemble Counter and Crossover. These make a quick transition from defence to counterattack possible. The game offers two ways to activate special skills. Beginners can use the simplified Quick Skill system, while more experienced players have classic button combinations at their disposal, delivering greater damage and faster charging of the skill gauge. The open beta will also feature a section of Episode Mode, the story mode that presents Spider-Man's team as an animated comic. After completing the tutorial, players will be able to immediately put their new knowledge to the test in matches. The Open Beta will take place from 24 to 26 July on PlayStation 5 and PC.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls aims to entice both fighting-game fans and those just beginning to explore the genre. A comprehensive tutorial, a simplified control scheme and dynamic team-based combat should make it easier to learn all the mechanics. The open beta will let players see whether Arc System Works’ new title has a chance of becoming one of the most compelling Marvel fighting games.
