After a one-month break caused by the FIFA World Cup 2026, Major League Soccer returns to action. From 16 July, fans will once again be able to follow all regular-season matches via Apple TV. The return of play coincides with the comeback of many players who took part in the World Cup and with transfers of global stars to the American league. Among them is Robert Lewandowski, who will begin a new chapter of his career with Chicago Fire. Apple has prepared a range of additional content and features for football fans to mark the occasion. Everything suggests that the second half of the MLS season will be particularly exciting.

Robert Lewandowski will make his MLS debut and fans will see blockbuster matches

Major League Soccer returns with all 30 clubs competing after the football World Cup. Several very interesting matches are scheduled in the first days after the season resumes. These include the Cascadia Cup derby between Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers, a clash between Nashville and Atlanta United FC, and another El Tráfico between LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC. European fans are particularly drawn to Robert Lewandowski's debut for Chicago Fire. The Polish striker joined the team during the summer transfer window and on 16 July will face Thomas Müller, his long-time Bayern Munich team‑mate, who now represents Vancouver Whitecaps. The match will take place at Soldier Field in Chicago and promises to be one of the most important events at the start of the second half of the season. Antoine Griezmann has also joined MLS, after ten seasons at Atlético Madrid he signed for Orlando City SC. Scottish goalkeeper Angus Gunn has also arrived in the league after signing for San Jose Earthquakes. The return of players from the World Cup and the new signings mean the standard of competition could be even higher than before the break.

Apple focuses on full support for fans across its ecosystem

Apple TV subscribers in more than 100 countries and regions can watch every MLS match without additional interruptions. The offering also includes broadcasts of the Leagues Cup, the MLS All-Star match, the Campeones Cup and the play-offs, culminating in the Audi MLS Cup final. Apple has also prepared extra features across its other services. In the Apple Sports app, fans can follow live scores, statistics, standings and detailed match information. Apple Music features special playlists curated by players and clubs taking part in MLS. Apple Maps users will find stadium guides and recommendations for match-related venues. Additionally, a new episode of the "Time to Walk" programme debuted on Apple Fitness+, with Thomas Müller as the guest talking about his career and the changes involved in moving to the United States. Selected matches will also be available via EA SPORTS FC Mobile through the FCM TV platform. Apple clearly shows that sports broadcasts are becoming an increasingly important part of the company's service ecosystem.
