Apple and EA SPORTS have announced that one of the most popular sports game series will soon make its debut on Apple Arcade. Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition will be available from 6 August on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. With the launch, players will also get new instalments of the Retro Bowl series, which will further expand the service's sports library.
Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition will offer full football gameplay
The new instalment of Madden NFL has been developed specifically for Apple Arcade. The game will deliver the full console experience, but without ads or in-app purchases. Players will be able to access Franchise mode, in which they will take on the role of an NFL team manager and lead the team through a full season, making decisions that affect the team's development. There will also be a classic Quick Match mode for those who want to jump straight into competition. The developers have also implemented dynamic player ratings that will be updated based on their real-life performances in the NFL. The game will support controllers on iPhone, iPad and Mac, aiming to provide a gameplay experience comparable to console versions. Apple emphasises that adding the Madden series significantly strengthens the Apple Arcade library and makes it one of the most compelling subscription services for sports game fans. The release is scheduled for 6 August.
Apple Arcade expands its lineup with more football games
The debut of Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition won't be the only sports addition to Apple Arcade. On 6 August the catalogue will also be joined by Retro Bowl College+, in which players will take the role of coach for one of 250 college teams and try to lead it to success. A few weeks later, on 3 September, NFL Retro Bowl '27 will debut. The biggest addition will be Gauntlet mode, which challenges players to win fifteen games in a row with limited resources. After each match you'll be able to develop your team and unlock new skills, even after a loss. Apple also highlighted updates to other sports hits available on the service. NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition gained a new player, Paragon, and an expanded The Association mode, while PGA TOUR Pro Golf added another golf course. With these changes, Apple Arcade is putting an even stronger focus on sports titles ahead of the autumn season kick-offs for the major leagues.
August looks very interesting for Apple Arcade subscribers. Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition, Retro Bowl College+ and further updates to popular sports titles are set to make the service even more appealing to fans of American football and other sports. Apple is clearly signalling that it intends to expand its library of premium games.
