LG TVs with Eclipsa Audio support. Which models?

Calendar 3/13/2026

LG televisions are officially receiving support for the Eclipsa Audio format (IAMF). This feature will appear in all models from the 2026 range, but the list also includes popular series from 2025 that will receive the appropriate software update. This is a direct, free response to the Dolby Atmos-dominated spatial audio market.

New standard in 2026 models and update for the 2025 series

During a conference in London, LG confirmed that Eclipsa Audio is becoming an integral part of their ecosystem. All televisions from the 2026 line – from flagship OLEDs to "micro RGB" LCD models – will receive support for this format. Importantly, the technology will not be limited to the newest equipment. According to FlatpanelsHD, the manufacturer has already started to roll out software version 33.30.80 (or newer), which activates Eclipsa Audio support in selected models from 2025, including the C5, CS5, G5, and QNED9M series.

The format works natively on both built-in television speakers and when transmitting the signal via HDMI to external audio systems. In practice, this means that the user does not need to own the latest soundbar to experience the difference in content supporting this standard – a system update in the receiver itself is sufficient.

What is Eclipsa Audio?

Eclipsa Audio (technically known as IAMF) is an object-based audio standard developed by Google and Samsung. Unlike Dolby Atmos, it is a royalty-free solution, which means there are no licensing fees for producers. For the end user, this is supposed to mean broader availability of spatial audio across various services.

Currently, the technology is primarily used on YouTube, but this is just the beginning. The standard is set to be integrated into Android 16 and ultimately reach films, games, and live broadcasts. For LG, the introduction of Eclipsa Audio alongside the already supported Dolby Atmos is a way to ensure full compatibility with upcoming innovations in streaming, regardless of the format in which they are made available.
