iOS 27 will make using AirPods easier. Apple introduces a long-awaited change

Apple continues to develop iOS 27, gradually adding further improvements to its devices. One of the latest changes is aimed at AirPods owners. Although it may seem minor at first, it could significantly simplify everyday use of the Adaptive Audio feature. This is down to simpler access to the intensity settings for this technology. Apple wants to reduce the number of steps required to change key options.

Adjusting Adaptive Audio will become much simpler

Currently changing the intensity of the Adaptive Audio feature requires going into Bluetooth settings, finding your AirPods and opening additional sound options. In iOS 27 beta 3, Apple significantly simplifies this process. A new slider appears directly in the main AirPods settings menu, alongside the listening mode selector. This lets users more quickly decide whether they want to better isolate themselves from their surroundings or remain more aware of sounds around them. The change was noticed in screenshots shared from the system beta. The new shortcut offers a slightly reduced range of adjustment compared with the previous slider in the Bluetooth settings. Apple has decided, however, that easier access to this feature will be more important for most users than fine-grained control. As a result, the setting will become much more visible and easier to use. It's a small change that could positively affect day-to-day use of headphones.

This is part of a broader set of changes Apple is preparing

According to earlier reports, Apple is working on a comprehensive refresh of the AirPods settings. A new shortcut to Adaptive Audio will be part of that revamp. The company wants to reorganise the interface and move the most-used options to more intuitive locations. This will make it easier for less experienced users to find their AirPods’ most important features. For now the change is available only in the third beta of iOS 27. It is not yet known whether it will make it into the final release of iOS unchanged. Apple, however, has several months to refine the interface before the autumn launch of the update. All signs point to Apple wanting to integrate AirPods more tightly with iOS. This is good news for people who use Adaptive Audio on a daily basis.

iOS 27 beta 3 introduces an easier way to adjust Adaptive Audio on AirPods. Apple moves the most important settings to a more visible location, making switching listening modes quicker and more convenient.
