Google has long been developing its own device-locating network, Find Hub, but until now it has not offered its own tracker similar to the Apple AirTag. Everything suggests that this will soon change. The first images and information about a device called the Google Pixel Tag have surfaced online. The accessory is expected to be unveiled at the Pixel 11 smartphone launch. The new product will make it easier to find keys, a wallet or luggage. Technical details, however, remain a mystery.

Google Pixel Tag appeared before the official launch

According to information revealed by 9to5Google, Google is preparing its own tracker called Pixel Tag. The device has already appeared in online listings and product databases under model number GA12506. A published image shows the tracker will have an elongated casing, distinguishing it from most competing devices. The design is more reminiscent of the Galaxy SmartTag than Apple's round AirTag. At the same time, the Pixel Tag does not have a visible hole to attach it directly to a keyring. Everything indicates Google will prepare a dedicated case or mounting accessories. The revealed materials also show the device will be available in a colourway called Fog Light. Pixel Tag is set to work with the expanded Find Hub network, which uses Android devices to locate lost items. This will allow users to check the location of their belongings directly on their smartphone. Google also promises a speaker to make it easier to find a nearby tracker. Google also emphasises its focus on privacy protection and user data security.

Specifications remain under wraps, but the launch is imminent

So far Google has not revealed the full specifications of the Pixel Tag. It is not known whether the device will include a UWB module for very precise locating, or whether it will use a removable battery or a rechargeable cell. Descriptions in online listings only indicate that the tracker is intended to be compact, light and durable. The device's main purpose will be locating items such as keys, a wallet or luggage. Everything suggests the Pixel Tag will be a direct rival to the Apple AirTag and the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag. According to leaks to date, the product could be unveiled at Google's event scheduled for 12 August, when the company will also show the Pixel 11 series smartphones. It is not known whether the device will go on sale immediately after the presentation. Google has not yet confirmed any details on price or availability. More information should appear during the manufacturer's official conference. The Pixel Tag could become an important part of Google's expanding device ecosystem.

Google is preparing its own Pixel Tag tracker, which is set to compete with the Apple AirTag. Early leaks suggest a launch alongside the Pixel 11 series and integration with the Find Hub network, but the device's full specification remains unknown for now.
