An increasing number of TVs support Calman Ready. Automatic calibration will be available on new models.

Calendar 7/14/2026

More and more new televisions will support automatic picture calibration using Calman Ready technology. Portrait Displays has officially confirmed expanded compatibility with the MediaTek Pentonic 800 processor. This opens the door to deploying the feature in many TV models debuting in 2026. The solution makes it much easier to achieve more accurate colour reproduction and picture parameters. However, the final decision to enable the feature still rests with the TV manufacturers.

Pentonic 800 opens the way for more televisions

Support for the MediaTek Pentonic 800 processor means that many more televisions can gain the Calman Ready feature. Devices equipped with this chip include the Hisense U8Q, Hisense UR8S, TCL X11L, TCL QM8L (C8L), Sony Bravia 3 II and the upcoming Philips OLED811. The processor itself provides full technical compatibility with the automatic calibration system. That does not, however, mean the feature will be activated on every model. Each manufacturer must implement Calman Ready support in its own software. The technology became popular thanks to earlier Pentonic 1000 and Pentonic 700 processors. They helped popularise automatic calibration in premium and upper mid-range televisions. Portrait Displays emphasises that rising screen brightness, a wider colour gamut and the development of AI algorithms increase the importance of precise picture calibration. The company aims to give manufacturers an easier way to achieve a high-quality picture. In the coming years the number of compatible models is expected to grow steadily. The Pentonic 800 is set to become the new foundation for televisions supporting Calman Ready. That's good news for professionals and the most demanding home users alike.

Calman Ready allows automatic calibration of a TV

Calman Ready enables automatic calibration of colour, brightness and many other picture parameters. The process uses the Calman software for Windows, a colourimeter and a test pattern generator. The TV communicates with the other devices over Wi-Fi or a wired LAN. As a result, most settings are carried out automatically without the need for manual adjustment. The solution delivers much more accurate image reproduction than the standard factory settings. The feature is particularly valued by professional calibrators and home cinema enthusiasts. Portrait Displays has been developing Calman Ready for several years, and the number of compatible TVs continues to grow. Extending support to the Pentonic 800 is expected to further accelerate the adoption of this technology. Final availability of the feature will, however, depend on the manufacturers of particular TV models. More announcements of devices equipped with Calman Ready can be expected in the coming months.
