If you're looking for something to watch in May, Amazon Prime Video is adding a few solid options. You'll find both light romantic comedies and something for action fans. It's the perfect selection for evenings when you want to relax and not waste time on lengthy searches. Among the new (and returning) titles are productions that work well as typical "comfort movies", but also those that provide pure entertainment.
“Because I Said So” and “Long Shot” – light-hearted, funny and heartfelt
Because I Said So is a classic romantic comedy starring Diane Keaton as an overprotective mother who tries to arrange her daughter’s romantic life… without her knowing. The film is warm, at times absurd, but that’s exactly why it works perfectly as a light watch to lift your spirits. It’s one of those titles that don’t aim to be ambitious; they simply aim to provide enjoyable viewing, and they do so very effectively. On the other hand, Long Shot is a more modern romantic comedy with a touch of politics and great chemistry between Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen. The story of a former crush re-entering the main character's life at the most unexpected moment is both funny and surprisingly sincere. The film stands out with its dialogue and humour, but it also manages to offer something more than just laughter, making it one of the more interesting options in this compilation.
“The Equalizer” is pure action and satisfaction
If you’re in the mood for something more intense, The Equalizer is the perfect choice. Denzel Washington portrays a former soldier who cannot turn a blind eye to injustice. The film relies on a simple yet effective formula: a lot of action, a vivid hero, and satisfying confrontations with adversaries. This is cinema that does not pretend to be something more than it is, aiming to provide entertainment, and it does so very well. Additionally, the subsequent parts of the series are appearing on Prime Video, making it possible to have a little marathon. It's a great option for an evening when you just want to “switch off your thinking” and watch something dynamic, with well-executed action scenes and a charismatic hero.
