XGIMI has unveiled two new ultra-short-throw projectors in the AURA 3 series. The AURA 3 Max and AURA 3 Pro are said to deliver a 4K image at a 120 Hz refresh rate. They also feature a triple RGB light source and support for Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced.
4K and 120 Hz in a UST projector
The most important feature of the new models is the combination of 4K resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the UST (Ultra Short Throw) design, the projector can be placed very close to the wall or screen and still project a large diagonal image. XGIMI has equipped both models with a triple RGB laser. The manufacturer also says it uses a dual dynamic iris to improve contrast and black levels. The models differ, among other things, in brightness. The AURA 3 Max is said to reach 5,700 ISO lumens, while the AURA 3 Pro reaches 4,100 ISO lumens.
Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced
Both projectors are said to support Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced. This should allow watching films and TV series in high quality. For screen sizes larger than typical TVs, a UST projector can be an alternative to a very large screen. Additionally, the UST design allows placing the projector right up against the wall or screen, instead of mounting it several metres away from the surface. However, it's worth remembering that all the parameters discussed are only the manufacturer's claims. The figures provided do not come from independent measurements.
