Microsoft has begun rolling out another update for participants in the Xbox Insider program. The new features are intended to make capturing gameplay, managing cloud saves and browsing achievements easier. Some of the changes are already available to selected testers, while the rest will be gradually released to additional Xbox console users.
Xbox will let you record voice conversations and restore older game saves
One of the most interesting new features is the ability to attach voice chats to gameplay recordings. The feature has so far rolled out to participants in the Xbox Insider Alpha Skip-Ahead programme and lets you decide whether party or in-game voice chat should be saved when recording. Importantly, each participant can choose whether their voice may be included in the recording, giving greater control over privacy. Microsoft is also introducing the long-awaited ability to restore earlier cloud saves. The feature is already available to testers and initially supports Forza Horizon 6. Users can browse available save versions and restore an earlier game state directly from the console. In future the feature will be expanded to additional titles. This is particularly useful for people who accidentally overwrite progress or run into save issues. Microsoft says support for more games will be added in future system updates.
Bigger wishlist and new ways to browse achievements
The update also brings changes to the achievements section that make it easier to track progress in games. Testers can now sort their library by game name, percentage completion, earned Gamerscore, or number of unlocked achievements. Each of these filters works in both ascending and descending order, making it easier to find titles of interest or see which games are closest to completion. Microsoft also has good news for Xbox console users: the wishlist item limit has been significantly increased. You can now add up to 1000 games, which makes it easier to keep track of upcoming releases, sales and titles you plan to play in the future. The company says the new features will roll out gradually to successive groups of testers before being made available to all players. The Xbox Insider programme still remains the place where users can be first to try experimental features and provide feedback to the system's developers.
The new update to Xbox Insider focuses on making the console easier to use.
