Microsoft is not slowing down in developing the Xbox system. The latest update available for members of the Xbox Insider program introduces a number of changes aimed at improving the everyday use of the console. The manufacturer is primarily focused on personalising the interface, social features, and further reducing energy consumption by the devices. Some of the new features may seem minor, but together they create a more refined experience for gamers.
Easy to make new friends and greater personalisation
One of the most interesting new features is the expansion of social functions. From now on, while viewing another user's profile, you can check the number of mutual friends. This solution is designed to facilitate making new connections, especially after shared online games or community events organised around the Xbox platform. Microsoft hopes that this will encourage gamers to expand their friend network more willingly. The update also introduces new options related to the appearance of the game library. Users can display productions in the form of larger graphics resembling posters, which gives the entire interface a more modern look. Additionally, new settings have appeared, allowing users to hide selected status icons and customise how content is presented. The producer has also simplified the organisation of the personalisation menu, separating the main screen settings from the 'My games and apps' section. As a result, finding specific options is meant to be much easier. New shortcuts have also appeared in various parts of the system, enabling quick access to the most important settings.
Microsoft wants to further reduce energy consumption
The update also brings changes related to energy savings. Microsoft has started implementing a new solution for users using sleep mode on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and older Xbox One models. The system can automatically switch the device to a complete shutdown mode, which, according to the company, uses even several dozen times less energy than traditional standby mode. However, the manufacturer emphasizes that this feature does not affect the ability to download updates for games, applications, or the system itself. Players also retain full freedom to choose their preferred device operating mode. The update also includes a small but practical change for those tracking upcoming releases. Games that have not yet been released can now be added to the wishlist directly from the product card. This makes it easier to manage future purchases and monitor new announcements appearing on the Xbox platform.
The new Xbox Insider update focuses on three key areas: personalisation, social features, and energy saving. Microsoft is introducing easier friend searching, new options for customising the game library, and additional solutions aimed at reducing power consumption by consoles. Although the changes are currently rolling out to testers, there are signs that they will soon be available to all Xbox users as well.
