Microsoft has confirmed the details of its presence at gamescom 2026 in Cologne. The company plans to combine a showcase of new games with celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Xbox brand. Visitors will be able to try pre-release versions of many highly anticipated titles and meet their creators. Organisers have also prepared a number of attractions for people following the event from home. On site there will be a record number of gaming stations and a dedicated Xbox community zone. This will be one of Microsoft's largest presentations at this year's show.

More than 25 games and 140 gaming stations to try out new releases

The Xbox booth will feature 25 upcoming games and as many as 140 gaming stations. The biggest attraction will be the chance to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, showcasing a 6-on-6 online mode. Players will also be able to try the Gears of War: E-Day campaign for the first time ahead of its October release. Microsoft will provide the first playable build of Minecraft Dungeons II. Playground Games' Fable gameplay will be shown publicly for the first time. Attendees can also check out METRO 2039, STRANGER THAN HEAVEN and the refreshed Halo: Campaign Evolved. New features will also arrive in Forza Horizon 6, including a Drift Attack mode and announcements of further collaborations. Microsoft will show new content for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, including the National Championship Air Races. Also on the list of available titles are Alien: Isolation 2, Alien Deathstorm, Armatus, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Crowsworn, STAR WARS Zero Company, Turok: Origins and Valor Mortis. As part of the brand's 25th anniversary celebrations, visitors will be able to see interactive exhibits recalling the most important moments in Xbox history. The event will be rounded out by developer meet-and-greets and numerous presentations of new game footage. Microsoft emphasises that the event is intended above all as a celebration of players and the Xbox community.

FanFest, live streams and accessibility for all attendees

People who won't attend the event in person will be able to follow live coverage on YouTube and Twitch. The broadcasts will begin on 26 and 27 August and will include interviews with creators, gameplay showcases and new trailers. The Xbox FanFest event will also return, taking place on the evening of 26 August at Microsoft's booth. The company has organised a raffle so fans can win tickets to the event. The Xbox booth will be equipped with a range of accessibility features for people with disabilities. On site there will be Xbox Adaptive Controllers, adjustable gaming stations and a dedicated quiet zone. The organiser will also provide sign language interpreters and audio description in English and German. The booth will be located in hall 7 and will remain open throughout the event. Microsoft hopes that with its broad offering every visitor will find something for them. This year's gamescom is set to be one of the biggest events in Xbox's history. The company plans to use the event not only to showcase new games, but also to celebrate the console's 25th anniversary.

Gamescom 2026 will be a standout event for Xbox fans. Microsoft has lined up a record number of games to try, numerous demos and attractions celebrating the brand’s 25th anniversary, so the Microsoft stand looks set to be one of the highlights of the show.
