Xbox admits to making a mistake. Fans forced a change during the game showcases.

In recent months, Microsoft has increasingly focused on a multi-platform strategy, publishing its games on competing devices as well. Although the company emphasises that it wants to be transparent with players, part of the community is not happy with how Xbox presents its productions. The placement of other platform logos during the official brand showcases has particularly stirred up emotions. Now Microsoft admits that it was not the best decision.

Players didn't want to see competitor logos

During one of the recent Xbox podcasts, game division head Matt Booty assured that the company would continue to clearly inform which platforms various productions would be released on. According to him, transparency towards consumers remains an important element of Microsoft's strategy. However, this approach did not please some fans. Many players pointed out that during shows organised by Xbox, the focus should be on their own platform. Numerous comments emerged on social media criticising the presence of PlayStation logos and other competing brands during promotional materials.

Xbox Boss Admits It Was a Mistake

Asha Sharma, who currently leads the Xbox brand, addressed the issue. In a brief post published on X, she acknowledged that the company noticed the negative reactions from the community. “We’re seeing feedback regarding the logos. It was a mistake and I take responsibility for it. We are already discussing how to change this for future Xbox showcases,” Sharma wrote. This means that during upcoming events, Microsoft may limit the display of competing platform brands while still providing information on the availability of games across different devices.

Microsoft isn't planning to stop informing about multi-platform releases, but it looks like the way this information is presented will change. The response from the head of Xbox shows that the company is closely monitoring community feedback and is ready to adjust decisions that are met with negative reactions from gamers.
