Apple is gearing up for one of the most important tech conferences of the year. On June 8, WWDC 2026 will kick off, during which the company will showcase new versions of its operating systems and additional features related to artificial intelligence. While new devices are not expected to be announced, this time it may be the software that attracts the most attention. There is particularly a lot of talk about the complete overhaul of Siri, which is set to finally become a fully-fledged AI assistant. In the background, there are also rumours regarding the first preparations for a foldable iPhone. Apple may use WWDC to demonstrate the direction of development for its products in the coming years.
Siri might be undergoing the biggest revolution in years
According to the latest leaks, Apple is working on a completely new version of Siri. The assistant is set to receive its own app and significantly greater capabilities related to artificial intelligence. There are even reports that Siri might partially utilise Google's Gemini technology. This would enable users to have more natural conversations and use generative AI features directly within the system. The new Siri is expected to be released in iOS 27, macOS 27, and iPadOS 27. Apple is also reportedly planning to expand Visual Intelligence features related to photo and image analysis in real time.
iOS 27 may reveal plans for a foldable iPhone
While Apple is unlikely to showcase its first foldable smartphone at WWDC, the conference could provide the first hints regarding such a device. According to leaks, the company is working on a model referred to as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra. It’s possible that iOS 27 will receive new multitasking features inspired by iPads, which will later make their way to the foldable phone. New features for Apple Vision Pro, Apple Watch, and Mac computers equipped solely with Apple Silicon processors are also expected. This year's conference may also symbolically mark the end of an era, as Tim Cook is set to step down as CEO in September.
WWDC 2026 is shaping up primarily as a grand presentation of new AI features and a revamped Siri. Apple may also subtly prepare users for the arrival of the first foldable iPhone and a new generation of its artificial intelligence-based services.
