Whisper of the House has just launched on PS5. It’s an unusual game that focuses mainly on relaxing play and organising space. The player becomes an assistant to the residents of Whisper Town, who need help with moving house, cleaning, furnishing homes and getting shops ready. But it’s not just a typical game about tidying interiors, because the items in the rooms can tell their own stories. The developers have combined relaxing gameplay with a subtle thread of mystery and exploration. Whisper of the House is available now on PS5 and is on sale at 20 per cent off.
Over 1,800 items and plenty of interior design possibilities
In Whisper of the House, tidying and organising rooms isn't just about following a single routine. The player helps the residents of Whisper Town, for example by helping them move into new homes, clearing clutter, getting shops ready to open, or finding lost pets. Each job also helps you learn more about the owner of the space. The interiors are designed so that even ordinary items can hint at something about their owners. A kept memento might point to an important memory, while an unfinished section of a room can suggest abandoned plans. The game includes over 1,800 furnishing items and more than 10 different house layouts. They can be used to create, among other things, book-filled studies, plant-filled rooms, or more unusual hideouts. Selected furniture, floors and wallpapers can be further customised in terms of colours and textures. The developers also added numerous small interactions that don't always have a direct effect on the tasks being performed. For example, you can turn on an old record player, squeeze a rubber duck, or pull a single tissue from a box. These are accompanied by detailed sound effects designed to make ordinary actions more satisfying. The whole experience is designed to make organising spaces calm, while also encouraging experimentation.

But the creators didn’t limit Whisper of the House to decorating and cleaning. While helping the residents you can come across odd details that suggest Whisper Town hides a bigger story. One example is the number 42 appearing in the museum. There are also rumours about a mischievous spirit near the well. Players can discover cracks hiding things that shouldn’t be there. Other clues come in the form of letters that, rather than explaining the situation, often raise more questions. The developers call this element of the game “cosy snooping”, a gentle peeking into the residents’ secrets. There’s no need to rush from one puzzle to the next. Secrets are placed through the world so the most observant players can spot them on their own. The same attention to detail that helps you place a keepsake in a room can lead to the discovery of something much stranger. An important part of the fun is also creating your own home using the furniture and items you collect. There isn’t one right way to set it up, so you can make a minimalist interior, a room full of decorations or a completely unconventional space. Whisper of the House therefore combines relaxing tidying with curiosity and a gentle narrative layer.
