The remotes are reportedly losing connection to the device on their own, forcing owners to re-pair or use alternative control methods.

More and more users are reporting the same issue

Initial isolated reports had appeared earlier, but in recent weeks, the number of similar reports has clearly increased. Owners of Chromecast with Google TV describe situations where the remote suddenly stops responding or disconnects from the device. To restore its functionality, it is necessary to re-pair the remote or perform a reset. The problem does not indicate a total failure of the accessory. Once reconnected, everything usually returns to normal, but the situation can occur regularly. For many users, this becomes particularly frustrating, especially during daily use of streaming services. More and more similar reports are surfacing online, suggesting that these are not isolated incidents. Many people note that previously their remote worked without any problems for years. This may indicate a software-related issue rather than a hardware one. At this moment, however, it is difficult to definitively determine the source of the fault.

Temporary solutions exist, but they aren't ideal

Users affected by the issue often have to resort to alternative ways to control their Chromecast. The most popular solution is the virtual remote available in the Google TV app on smartphones. Some people also use the HDMI-CEC feature, which allows them to control the Chromecast with the TV's remote. However, this is not as convenient as using the original accessory. This can be particularly frustrating for those who have become accustomed to the traditional control of the device with a dedicated Bluetooth remote. Google continues to develop software for the Chromecast with Google TV, so there is a chance the problem will be resolved with an update. The company recently confirmed further support for the device despite previous misunderstandings regarding the technical support documentation. For now, however, the manufacturer has not released any official statement regarding the reported issues. Users are therefore left relying on temporary workarounds and waiting for a potential fix. If the number of reports continues to rise, Google's response may just be a matter of time.
