Rebel Wolves doesn't intend to wait long to develop its new brand. The studio has begun work on the next instalment in The Blood of Dawnwalker, though the project is still at an early stage. That confirmation comes from an announcement by Jakub Szamałek, Rebel Wolves' narrative director, who is looking for a lead writer to create the next chapter of the saga. The first instalment was a major success, selling over a million copies within just a few days of release. The job listing also reveals a few details about the direction the next game's narrative may take.

Rebel Wolves is already working on the next instalment

The news of a sequel appeared in a post by Jakub Szamałek on LinkedIn. Rebel Wolves' narrative director said he is looking for a Lead Writer to join the team responsible for the narrative of the next chapter of the Dawnwalker saga. This means The Blood of Dawnwalker 2 is already in the studio's plans, although a quick release should not be expected. The very fact they're looking for a lead writer shows the project is still at a relatively early stage of development. Many elements of the story and the world may therefore still be taking shape. The candidate should have experience crafting interactive, non-linear stories and dialogue. Rebel Wolves also requires a proven track record in writing and experience managing a team. Familiarity with the history and folklore of Central and Eastern Europe is also important. This last requirement may be particularly interesting for fans of the first game, as it suggests the creators still intend to draw heavily on the region's distinctive cultural and historical motifs. The listing does not, however, confirm specific events or locations that will appear in the sequel. It is also unclear whether all characters from the first game will return directly. At this stage, the key point is simply that work has started on the next chapter of the series.

Sequel may again focus on a non-linear narrative

The requirements set for the future writer give some clues about the game's direction. Rebel Wolves is looking for someone able to craft non-linear narratives, which suggests continuing one of the key elements from the first instalment. The listing also mentions knowledge of Central and Eastern European history and folklore. That could mean a return to the Carpathians and other areas known from Dawnwalker's established world. However, the next instalment might also take players further into Europe. Rebel Wolves has previously suggested the planned saga will have a much larger scope than a single story. The studio spoke of a franchise spanning centuries, continents and cultures around the world. Such a statement suggests the possibility of using different historical periods and settings across future instalments. It's unclear, though, whether all of these ideas will appear in the second game. So far no platforms, release date or gameplay details have been revealed. What's most likely is that Rebel Wolves wants to keep building the franchise after the strong reception of the first game.

The Blood of Dawnwalker 2 is already being prepared by Rebel Wolves, although production is still at an early stage. The studio has begun recruiting a lead writer responsible for the next chapter of the saga. Requirements for nonlinear narratives and knowledge of Central and Eastern European folklore suggest some of the first game's premises will be retained. More concrete information about the sequel will have to wait.
