Spotify is fighting against AI impersonating creators. Special labels for podcasts will be introduced.

Calendar 5/23/2026

Spotify has announced the introduction of special labels for verified podcasts. The new badges are designed to help users distinguish real creators from content generated by AI or impersonating popular hosts.

Spotify responds to the issue of AI voice cloning

A new label will appear in the form of a light green verification mark visible next to podcasts in the search engine and on program pages. Spotify acknowledges that the development of artificial intelligence has significantly facilitated podcast creation but has also led to an increase in false content using cloned voices of well-known creators. The platform announces that podcasts using AI to impersonate others without consent will be removed from the service. Spotify will award the labels gradually. To receive a badge, a podcast must meet several requirements, including having an active and authentic audience and not violating platform rules. The company also announces additional safeguards against artificial inflation of listens by bots.

Spotify emphasizes that podcasting is primarily based on the relationship between the listener and the host. The emergence of realistic voice clones generated by AI could strongly impact both creators and consumers, who are increasingly struggling to distinguish genuine material from fake. Similar actions are also being taken by other tech companies, including Google and OpenAI, which are developing verification systems for AI-generated content.

Spotify is introducing tags for verified podcasts to combat impersonation of creators using AI. The platform is also announcing the removal of podcasts that use unauthorized voice cloning.
