Project Hail Mary has just hit premium home distribution. The loud science fiction film starring Ryan Gosling is now available to watch in 4K HDR quality with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support.
Project Hail Mary has proven to be a huge cinematic success
The film has turned out to be one of the biggest surprises of 2026. The production has already grossed nearly as much as Dune: Part Two at the box office and has received very positive reviews from both audiences and critics. The story follows Ryland Grace, who wakes up alone on a spaceship during a mission to save humanity. The film is based on the novel by Andy Weir, the author of "The Martian." The directing is handled by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
Project Hail Mary is now available as PVOD, or premium video-on-demand. The home version offers a 4K image with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos sound. Some scenes have also been prepared in an expanded IMAX 1.78:1 format, and according to reports, the full version of these shots is available, among others, in the Apple TV app. The film is highly praised for its visual effects, and the HDR home release allows for a wider brightness and more intense colours than most cinema projectors.
For now, only in the more expensive PVOD version
The distribution is handled by Amazon-owned studio MGM. Currently, the film is available exclusively in the more expensive PVOD format, but it is expected to be released for standard digital sales and rentals later. It is still unknown when the production will appear in the Prime Video subscription. A UHD Blu-ray release has also been announced, scheduled for August.
Project Hail Mary has already been made available for home distribution in 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos quality. Many viewers consider the film to be one of the strongest contenders for the best science fiction title of 2026.
