Apple has officially unveiled the fourth generation Apple TV 4K. The new streaming player gets a significantly more powerful A19 chip, support for the AV1 codec and expanded home theatre features. It also includes artificial intelligence features and an improved remote. Price? As much as 1,499 zł.
The most important change is the adoption of the Apple A19 chip, which the manufacturer says delivers up to 50% higher CPU performance and a GPU up to twice as fast compared with the previous generation. That should result in smoother operation of the system, apps and games. Also new is a hardware AV1 decoder, which allows the device to play high-quality content more efficiently while using less internet bandwidth.
4K, Dolby Vision i Dolby Atmos. What about picture quality?
The new Apple TV supports 4K playback at up to 60 frames per second and the Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG formats. Despite featuring HDMI 2.1, the device doesn't offer 4K at 120 Hz. It also includes a hardware AV1 decoder that enables more efficient playback of high-quality content while using less bandwidth. HEVC, H.264 and VP9 codecs are also supported.
On the audio side we get Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Plus 7.1. The biggest new feature, though, is the ability to create a wireless spatial audio setup from four HomePod speakers that automatically adapt to the room.
In the US version of the Apple TV 4K there are also three microphones for voice control without the remote and a new Siri AI that lets you search for movies and TV shows using natural language commands. The new Siri AI features won't, of course, be available in Polish at launch. I guess we've gotten used to that 😉. Apple initially announced support for English only on selected markets.
Pre-orders for the Apple TV 4K have already started, and the device will hit stores on 13 November 2026. The price is 1499 zł.
