Basketball fans will soon have another alternative to classic NBA simulators. NBA The Run focuses on fast, spectacular gameplay inspired by street basketball and impressive moves. The creators promise a smooth control system and characters that stand out with special abilities. At the centre of attention are the so-called Street Legends, which are fictional stars of street courts created specifically for the game. Each of them offers their own playing style, strengths, and clear weaknesses. Players will be able to test some of them before the release thanks to the open beta.
Street Legends are to be the key to gameplay
The creators have prepared five unique heroes to complement rosters full of NBA stars. Among them is Spin Cycle, who specialises in steals, Shen Tong, a master of passing, and DJ, who dominates with long-range shots. Additionally, there's the powerful El Gigante, measuring a towering 7 feet and 7 inches, and legendary commentator Bobbito Garcia appearing as a playable character. Each hero has three fully developed skills, making them specialists in specific tasks on the court. At the same time, their weaknesses are meant to force players into more strategic team building.
Open beta launches before the premiere
The NBA The Run beta tests will begin on May 30, allowing players to check out the key mechanics before the full version debuts. The developers are counting on community feedback to help refine the gameplay balance. Participants in the tests will be able to unlock some characters and try out different play styles. The full version of the game will be available on PlayStation 5 starting June 9 for $29.99. The studio also promises ongoing game development post-launch and regular updates based on player suggestions.
NBA The Run wants to stand out from the competition by combining street basketball, NBA stars, and unique characters with their own skills. The open beta will allow players to see if the new release has the potential to become one of the more interesting sports launches of the year.
