Minecraft gives a chance to appear in a film. You just need to build one structure.

The Minecraft community has been delighting us for years with amazing constructions, from small houses to entire cities built block by block. Now, players' creativity can be rewarded in a unique way. Microsoft has announced the Minecraft Movie Build Challenge, a competition inspired by the upcoming sequel to the film hit. This time, the stakes are not just prestige, but also the chance to make history in the brand.

The best building could make it into the movie

The contest task is relatively simple. Participants must create a building or house that fits one of four biomes: plains, taiga, badlands, or frozen ocean. The challenge is that the construction must fit within a space of just 16 × 16 × 32 blocks. All participants receive the same set of blocks and the same starting conditions. The organisers emphasise that creativity and the skillful use of available resources are what truly matter. The best work may be featured directly in the film A Minecraft Movie Squared or in its credits.

Prizes for the Finalists

The competition is divided into several stages. First, 15 semi-finalists will be selected, who will receive cinema tickets. Then, three finalists will be awarded a private film screening. The ultimate winner will receive not only tickets, a private showing, but also the opportunity to see their building on the big screen. Entries can be submitted from 30 May to 8 June 2026. To participate, you need to prepare a short video presenting the building and a screenshot showing its front.

Free cape for all players

Microsoft has also prepared a reward for those who do not plan to enter the competition. Between 30 May and 14 June, players can earn a special Builder Cape for Minecraft. All you need to do is watch streams of Minecraft creators on Twitch or TikTok for a set amount of time and receive a promotional code.

The Minecraft Movie Build Challenge is one of the most unusual initiatives associated with the brand in recent years. The opportunity to appear in the film means that the competition could attract thousands of creative players from around the world. For building fans, it's a chance that may not come around again.
