Apple has long been working on its first foldable iPhone, but it looks like we will have to wait a bit longer for it. New reports suggest that the iPhone Fold will not debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series, as previously assumed. This changes the release plans and shows that Apple is taking a cautious approach to entering the foldable smartphone segment.
Launch pushed to late 2026
According to the latest information, Apple plans to stagger the launches of its most important devices. Instead of a joint debut with the iPhone 18 Pro, the foldable model may only appear in December 2026. The reason is said to be production constraints and the availability of advanced components, particularly in the context of new chips and memory.
The company is reportedly working on an improved hinge made from so-called "liquid metal," which is expected to enhance the device's durability. A significant emphasis is also placed on the screen; Apple wants to minimise the visibility of the fold by using an advanced glass structure and protective layers. The result? The crease is expected to be practically invisible, which could be one of the biggest advantages over the competition.
Price and specification
According to leaks, the iPhone Fold could cost around $2000, making it one of the most expensive smartphones on the market, but cheaper than earlier predictions.
