Fight Club has finally made its debut in 4K quality after several months of delays. The cult film directed by David Fincher has been restored and is now available for digital distribution with Dolby Vision HDR support.
David Fincher wraps up refreshing his classics
Fight Club was originally set to receive a 4K version last year to celebrate the film's 25th anniversary. However, the process of restoring and scanning 35mm tapes apparently took longer than expected. The new version offers 4K visuals with Dolby Vision HDR and 5.1 Dolby Surround sound. Currently, the film has mainly appeared on the Apple TV app, but it is expected to be available on other VOD platforms soon.
The film will also receive a physical UHD Blu-ray release. The disc version will provide 4K HDR10 visuals and DTS-HD MA 5.1 sound. This is another classic from Fincher recently refreshed. Previously, the director also oversaw the restoration of such productions as Se7en, Zodiac and Panic Room. However, there are still no new 4K releases for Alien 3 and The Game.
Fight Club still remains one of the most important cult films
Fight Club has been regarded for years as one of the most important films of the late 90s. The production featuring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter has achieved cult status and continues to rank very highly on IMDb.
