ASUS has unveiled another monitor that should interest fans of fast-paced games. The ROG Strix XG27ACMSR features a 27-inch Fast IPS panel, WQHD resolution and a refresh rate of up to 640 Hz! The manufacturer has implemented Triple Mode technology, allowing you to switch between three resolutions and refresh rates.
The new ASUS monitor uses a Fast IPS panel with a native resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels. The manufacturer claims a 1 ms GtG response time (minimum 0.3 ms), 95% DCI-P3 coverage and a 1100:1 contrast ratio.
The most interesting feature is Triple Mode, which lets the user choose one of three operating modes:
Resolution | Refresh rate |
|---|---|
WQHD (2560 × 1440) | 360 Hz (OC) |
Full HD (1920 × 1080) | 420 Hz |
HD (1280 × 720) | 640 Hz |
This means that the maximum 640 Hz is only available at HD resolution. This solution is aimed primarily at esports players for whom smoothness and response time may be more important than image detail.
Not just hertz. ASUS also focuses on reducing motion blur
The monitor supports ELMB-Sync, which allows you to use adaptive sync and backlight strobing at the same time to reduce motion blur. It also includes FreeSync Premium, G-Sync compatibility and Variable Overdrive 2.0. ASUS has also implemented Smart Pixel, designed to improve image sharpness at lower resolutions.
HDR performance is a bit weaker. The monitor offers up to 400 nits of brightness and a DisplayHDR 400 certification, but it lacks local dimming. So don't expect a particularly striking HDR picture. It comes with HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4 and USB-C.
Price and availability in Poland remain unknown.
