The race for hertz is in full swing! Titan Army has unveiled the U255L Ultra monitor, which offers a refresh rate as high as 820 Hz at native Full HD resolution. Interestingly, the manufacturer achieved that result with an IPS panel. The new model is also equipped with quantum dot technology, DisplayHDR 600 and a specialised system that reduces motion blur.
TCL's panel
The new Titan Army uses a 24.5-inch Ultrafast IPS panel from TCL, based on HFS Oxide technology. The screen offers a 1920 × 1080 pixel resolution, and the manufacturer claims a response time of just 0.3 ms GtG. An 820 Hz refresh rate means the monitor can display a new frame every around 1.22 ms. By comparison, at 240 Hz the interval is 4.17 ms. So the difference is significant, although using such a high refresh rate requires a very powerful PC.
820 Hz is not everything. QLED and DisplayHDR 600
Titan Army has also used quantum dot technology, which is meant to provide a wider colour gamut. The manufacturer claims a maximum brightness of 600 nits, a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and DisplayHDR 600 certification. The monitor also supports local dimming, although the number of zones remains unknown. An interesting addition is the DyDs Pulse feature, which is designed to reduce motion blur on moving objects. Combined with Adaptive Sync, the solution should appeal primarily to players of CS2, Valorant and other fast-paced shooters.
It comes with two HDMI 2.1 ports, two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, a USB hub and a headphone output. The stand offers 150 mm of height adjustment, screen rotation and portrait mode.
The Titan Army U255L Ultra has already appeared in the manufacturer's Chinese line-up. The price and timing of any potential European launch remain unknown. For now, all specifications still need to be confirmed in independent tests.
