Alexa+ is coming to Fire TV outside the USA. Amazon is expanding the new generation of voice assistant.

Calendar 5/26/2026

Amazon has officially started the global expansion of Alexa+ availability for Fire TV devices. After its earlier debut in the United States, the new voice assistant is now also reaching the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada, and Mexico. The company is heavily investing in the development of smarter AI systems for televisions and streaming devices. Alexa+ aims to provide more natural conversations and significantly better understand the context of user questions. Amazon emphasizes that the new version of the assistant is changing the way people use Fire TV and encourages users to engage in more voice interactions. This marks another stage in the growing competition among tech giants for the future of smart televisions.

Amazon wants to change the way we use TVs with ChooseTV

ChooseTV has been designed as a much more advanced version of classic Alexa. Users can issue more natural commands, ask additional questions, and have longer conversations with the assistant. The system can recommend movies and series, control the TV, and answer questions about the content being viewed. Amazon states that Fire TV users engage with ChooseTV up to 2.5 times more than with the previous version of the assistant. Popular features are expected to include checking Ring cameras, identifying actors while watching a movie, and searching for specific scenes and content. The company believes that the future of TVs will be based on more natural voice communication rather than traditional remote control operation.

Tech giants start a new war for smart TVs

Amazon is not the only company developing a new generation of AI assistants for TVs. Google is increasingly developing Gemini for Google TV, Samsung is upgrading its Bixby, and Apple is preparing a new version of Siri. All companies are trying to create smarter systems for operating TVs and home devices. However, Alexa+ only works on newer Fire TV devices and Amazon Amber TVs. Older devices with FireOS 5 will not receive support for the new assistant. Access to Alexa+ also requires a Prime subscription or a separate Alexa+ subscription.
