OLED monitors may soon become significantly faster and cheaper. According to the latest forecasts from analyst firm Omdia, TCL CSOT plans to begin producing OLED panels with refresh rates of up to 700 Hz. Moreover, prices of popular OLED monitors could fall to around $300 as early as 2027.

New factory

A Chinese manufacturer plans to open an 8.6-generation factory in 2028, where 32- and 34-inch OLED panels will be produced. The main innovation will be the use of IJP OLED (Inkjet-printed OLED) technology, that is, inkjet printing of organic materials. Unlike traditional production methods, this approach allows materials to be deposited on the substrate more precisely, reducing material usage and potentially lowering display manufacturing costs.

700 Hz on OLEDs. Does it make sense?

According to Omdia, future TCL panels could offer refresh rates of up to 700 Hz. For comparison, at 240 Hz a single frame is displayed for about 4.17 ms, while at 700 Hz it's just 1.43 ms. Such a high refresh rate may appeal mainly to esports players, though using it will require a correspondingly high number of FPS. It's still unclear at what resolution TCL intends to reach 700 Hz.

OLED monitors for $300?

Equally interesting are the price forecasts. According to Omdia, 27-inch 240 Hz OLED monitors fell in price by over 40% in 2026, and in 2027 prices for some models could approach $300. Analysts also predict a 79% increase in global shipments of OLED panels for monitors in 2026, reaching 6.1 million units. It’s worth noting, however, that both a 700 Hz refresh rate and further price declines remain forecasts.
